Institute of Physics (IOP) Best Presentation

After presenting in at the 2022 Materials Research Society’s (MRS) Fall Meeting & Exhibit, Marquise was awarded an Institute of Physics Best Presentation Award for his talk titled “A Heat-Based Self-Decontaminating Textile Material for Wearables.”

Marquise Named a NSTGRO Fellow

Marquise was awarded a NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Opportunity (NSTGRO) Fellowship! This fellowship will support the research of developing multifunctional textile materials to be integrated into space suits with the intent of lessening the weight and number of layers while increasing functionality.

Hirschi Men Can Scholarship

A group of five Hirschi High School graduates (Brandon Sheppard, c/o ’12, Zackary Brown, c/o ’12, Dominique Bobo, c/o ’13, Nathan Alexander III, c/o ’16, and Marquise Bell, c/o ’16) co-founded a $500 scholarship for minority men graduating from their alma mater.

Marquise Named a GEM Fellow

Marquise was named a 2020 GEM Associate Fellow through the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science. GEM’s mission is to enhance the value of the nation’s human capital by increasing the participation of underrepresented groups (African Americans, American Indians, and Hispanic Americans) at the master’s and doctoral levels in engineering and science.

Marquise Joins the PI Lab

Marquise accepted a full-time PhD offer in Prof. Daniel Preston’s lab in mechanical engineering at Rice University. There, he plans to investigate the mechanical and thermal properties of soft wearable materials.

Marquise Graduates From Baylor University

Marquise Bell graduated from Baylor University in May 2020 with a Bachelor’s of Science in mechanical engineering and minors in both mathematics and computer science.
